Spain .. Catalan demonstration for secession on the fifth anniversary of the referendum

On Saturday in Catalonia, thousands again demonstrated for the independence of the region, on the fifth anniversary of the referendum on secession from Spain.

On Saturday evening, separatists gathered at the Arc de Triomphe in the center of Barcelona, demanding, among other things, the resignation of the regional government of Prime Minister Pere Aragones.

The protesters believe that Aragones is very reluctant to fulfill his campaign promise to create an independent Catalan republic.

Police estimated that about 11,000 people took part in the march.

Dolores Vallo, head of the Catalan independence movement, urged Aragonés to present “a plan to achieve secession”, shouting: “If the politicians can’t do it, we will do it. They can’t stop us.”

Aragones said in a statement that his coalition government is still fighting for secession but wants the referendum to be approved by the central government.
