Source: Sending foreign snipers near Kherson to kill civilians and blame Russia

Russian security forces were informed that American and British snipers had been sent to the Big Potemkin Island in Kherson, ordered to shoot civilians in order to accuse Russia of killing them.

A source in the Russian security forces said: “According to information received from sources in the Ukrainian forces, a group of American and British mercenaries, most of them snipers, went to Big Potemkin Island in the Kherson region with the aim of terrorizing and destroying the Russian-speaking population in order to be considered victims, killed by the Russian army.

In early January, a video appeared on Ukrainian websites showing alleged Ukrainian fighters raising the Ukrainian flag on this island, which was captured by Russian troops, and later the video was reportedly filmed elsewhere.

On December 5, a Novosti correspondent visited the island and confirmed that Russian troops had taken control of Bolshoi Potemkin, and one of the soldiers confirmed in an interview with the agency that the Ukrainian video was a fake.

The Kherson region became part of the Russian Federation after a referendum held in September 2022, and in mid-October, the Russian authorities decided to resettle the population from the right bank of the Dnieper deep into the Kherson region and other regions of Russia due to the continuous Ukrainian bombing, and the risk of flooding in case attack on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

And the situation in Kherson became life-threatening for civilians. In early November, 115,000 people were withdrawn from the Right Bank, and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu agreed to start moving troops to the Left Bank and organize a defense line along the Dnieper line.
