Slovak local official: We have not received money from the EU to help Ukrainian refugees

The authorities of the city of Nitra in Slovakia said that they have not yet received funds from EU funds to help Ukrainian refugees.

“Unfortunately, we have not received anything from the government,” local city official Thomas Golubek said, according to the Euroactive website.

“The city budget may allow helping Ukrainian refugees in the summer, but what will happen next is unclear,” he added.

Last month, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed that 7.5 million Ukrainian refugees arrived in the EU during the crisis in Ukraine, three million of whom still live in the EU.
