Signs of Saint Germain with "The most inexperienced coach in the European arena"

Coach Christophe Galtier has signed a two-year contract to manage Paris Saint-Germain, replacing Mauricio Pochettino, who was sacked from his position, an insider said on Monday.

The source explained that the 55-year-old former Nice manager, who was seen in the administrative offices of the Parisian club on Monday evening, according to videos posted on social networks, will be officially announced today, Tuesday, at a press conference. the latter called the Parc des Princes at 2pm local time to introduce his players and coaches.

Saint-Germain has finally managed to settle the new manager’s case, almost a month and a half after star Kylian Mbappe’s high-profile renewal announcement, which marked the starting point for a near-complete reform of the club’s organizational structure.

Galtier, who has a huge task ahead of him, led the club to the Champions League title it had been aiming for since acquiring the Qatar Investment Fund, along with the Portuguese club’s new sports adviser, Luis Campos, who was signed by Saint-Germain as sporting director on 10 June.

Galtier and Campos know each other well because they worked together at Lille, laying the cornerstone for the club’s surprise title in 2021.

Qatari Paris club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has chosen one of the most consistent coaches in France in the past decade, but he is undoubtedly the least experienced coach on the European scene in the Qatar acquisition era.

Al-Khelaifi kidnapped coach Galtier from Nice after one successful but not exceptional season.

The coach led his team to the final match of the French Cup, where they lost to Nantes (0:1), and to fifth place in the league and thus to participation in the Conference League competition.

Negotiations were difficult, as it was necessary to first find a financial agreement with Nice, who did not want to part with their coach, and then agree on the departure of Pochettino and his technical staff, who had one year of contracts left, which prevented Paris Saint-Germain » formalize the arrival of Galtier. Earlier, Nice announced his departure from 27 June.

Galtier will be the third Qatari-era Frenchman after Antoine Compoire, who was quickly fired in 2011, and Laurent Blanc (2014-2016).
