Saudi Arabia to host Italian Super Cup match for third time

The Italian Football League announced on Friday that a local super match between Italian league title holders AC Milan and Coppa Italia winners Inter will take place in the Saudi capital Riyadh early next year.

After the last two editions were held in Italy, the Italian Super Cup returns to Saudi Arabia for the third time, as the Kingdom has hosted the tournament twice.

The first time an Arab country hosted this match dates back to 2018 and it was in Jeddah where Juventus beat AC Milan 1-0.

And in 2019, Saudi Arabia again became the headquarters of the tournament, which was held that year in Riyadh at the Marsul Park stadium, and ended with Lazio’s victory over Juventus with a score of 3:1.

Juventus are the most successful Italian Super Cup winners with 9 titles, followed by Milan with 7 titles, followed by Inter (6 titles) and Lazio (5 titles).
