A foreign tourist was attacked by a shark near the Egyptian resort of Hurghada, resulting in injuries that required her to be hospitalized.

“A tourist was attacked by a shark in the Sahl Hasheesh area, the shark bit the woman on the arm and leg,” the Novosti agency quotes the Russian consulate in Hurghada. The consulate confirmed that the woman is not a Russian citizen.

The agency, citing an informed source, said that the victim was an Austrian citizen. Against the backdrop of the accident, swimming, diving and fishing in the area of ​​the accident is prohibited for a period of three days, starting on Friday.

In December, a surfer was attacked by a shark in Morro Bay, California and the man’s body was found on the beach.
