Russia’s Minister of Economic Development proposes measures to boost trade with Algeria

Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov praised the strategic relations between Russia and Algeria, noting a step that will help boost trade between the two countries.

The minister’s speech was made during the discussion session “Russia – Algeria”, which took place today, Friday, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Reshetnikov noted that relations between Russia and Algeria are developing remarkably and are based on a foundation built on strong friendship, noting that relations between the two countries today in the field of trade and investment are incomparable with the level of political relations, calling for the development of trade.

The Russian minister expressed hope that the visit of the Algerian delegation to Russia would give a powerful impetus to trade and economic relations, and said that “trade in the first five months of this year doubled compared to the same period last year.”

He pointed out that there is a possibility of increasing the trade turnover between the two countries to the level of $9 billion, based on the huge potential of the two countries.

Reshetnikov stressed that the conclusion of a trade agreement between Algeria and the Eurasian Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan) will stimulate bilateral trade in the Eurasian Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan), which will stimulate trade.”

He added: “First, a temporary trade agreement can be signed between Russia and the Eurasian Union, and then it will be possible to move to a permanent agreement. He pointed out that there are promising areas of cooperation, especially in agriculture and the automotive industry. and medicine.”

The forum will be held from June 14 to 17, 2023 and will discuss the main economic issues and challenges facing Russia, emerging markets and the world as a whole.

The forum is an effective platform for the exchange of views and experience between politicians, officials and representatives of the business sector from around the world, as it is held on the road, taking into account the rules of health prevention using modern digital technologies.
