Russian Ministry of Defense’s Initial Response to Truce with Wagner Group Captured in Photo’s First Comment

The Russian Ministry of Defense published a poignant photograph of Russian soldiers titled “Cohesion and Unity” shortly after the announcement of a truce with the “Wagnerian” forces that had mutinied today.

This picture was the first that the ministry published after the lull, as evidence that the unity and cohesion of the Russian forces is stronger than any strife and disagreement that Russia’s enemies dream of creeping into its ranks.

Today, on Saturday, the press service of the President of Belarus reported that the founder of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, accepted Lukashenka’s proposal to stop the movement of the group’s militants in Russia and take further steps to reduce tensions.

The press service clarified that Russian President Vladimir Putin this morning informed his Belarusian counterpart about the situation in southern Russia with PMC Wagner, and the leaders of the two countries agreed to work together.

This was followed by a personal statement by Prigozhin to stop the movement of his troops towards Moscow, confirming that they had turned around and were now leaving in the opposite direction, returning to their camps on the lines of contact.

Early on Saturday morning, the forces of the Special Military Group “Wagner” captured the headquarters of the Southern Military District in the Rostov region.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the actions of the rebels a criminal adventure, a stab in the back of Russia and high treason.

The FSB of Russia also opened a case against the founder of Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, on charges of organizing an “armed rebellion.”
