Russian Foreign Ministry: Washington is pursuing an aggressive policy towards Russia

Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Ryabkov said that the possibility of continuing the strategic dialogue between the United States and Russia interrupted by the Americans is far from unambiguous.

Ryabkov said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper that: “Assessing the prospects for conducting a strategic dialogue with the United States, especially when the Americans interrupted it, is a hopeless exercise, given Washington’s anti-Russian policy.”

The diplomat explained: “To be frank, the possibility of resuming the dialogue is not at all clear, given the aggressive and reckless policy of Washington towards Russia. Of course, we are seeing some signs of a renewed dialogue on the issue of strategic offensive arms. , but what is behind this is still unclear. .Negotiations generally do not go through the media.”

According to the Deputy Minister, the Russian vision of dialogue with the United States on issues of strategic stability remains unchanged.

“Our idea is to develop a “new security equation” that takes into account all the factors affecting strategic stability, and to this end we strive to cover the entire spectrum of strategic offensive, defensive, nuclear and non-nuclear weapons,” Ryabkov concluded. .
