Russian Consulate lauds Saudi Arabia’s crucial role in evacuating Russians from Sudan with warships

Ruslan Usmanov, spokesman for the Russian Consulate General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, said that Riyadh evacuated dozens of Russian citizens from Sudan on warships.

Usmanov said in an interview with a TASS correspondent today, Sunday: “Russian citizens cannot carry out the evacuation on their own. They are being taken out by Saudi Arabian warships. to the naval base in the port of Jeddah, and there we meet them.”

A spokesman for the Russian consulate said that “about 40 Russians have arrived so far.”

“Most of them have already left: some to Russia, some to other countries, depending on the destination,” he added. And Usmanov added that Russian citizens travel to their homeland through transit countries such as Egypt, the Emirates and Qatar.

He said: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is evacuating Americans and citizens of EU countries, as well as Russia … while the authorities are transmitting information on the lists of evacuees to the Consulate General of the Russian Federation for several hours. .”

Usmanov concluded: “In principle, the Saudi side still bears the cost of staying for two days in a hotel with meals. After that, Russian citizens leave for Moscow. It is clear that there are no significant problems so far.”
