Russia is responsible for the destruction of Kakhovskaya station in Washington

The White House has blamed Russia for the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station on the Dnieper, indicating that Washington is still studying the details of the accident.

“We are still evaluating what happened. And, of course, we keep in touch with Ukraine,” White House press secretary Karen Jean-Pierre said during a press conference on Monday.

She added: “The Russians controlled the dam and above all they were misplaced and in the end they are responsible for the destruction caused by this war.”

The New York Times reported, citing U.S. military sources, that the United States ruled out that the attack was from outside the station, but tended to say “the dam was blown from the inside, most likely by the Russians.” according to newspaper sources.

Russia and Ukraine have exchanged accusations over the attack on the Kakhovskaya station, the destruction of which on June 6 led to the flooding of both banks of the Dnieper and had dire consequences for the environment in the region.
