The International Design Organization has announced the nomination of the city of Riyadh as the 2026 World Design Capital, Saudi Press Agency SPA reported.
According to SPA, this announcement comes after a competition with several international cities, of which only two cities made it to the final stage of the competition, the results of which will be announced next September.
And “SPA” indicated that the Architecture and Design Authority submitted a file for the World Design Capital 2026 event to designate the city of Riyadh as the World Design Capital for 2026, since this title is awarded every two years. years, and is a program and design events for the year to showcase the achievements of cities that effectively use design to improve the lives of their citizens.
And SPA indicated that Riyadh’s nomination as World Design Capital 2026 aims to build its global reputation as a leading hub for design, creativity and innovation to attract tourism and investment and showcase the city’s achievements internationally, and that it is ready to host all branches of the design sector in the world and to communicate with a wide international network of experience that allows cities, municipalities and large projects to exchange programs and strategies for urban design and urban transformation that we are working on, as well as to be recognized for using innovation in design for promoting economic, social, cultural and environmental development.
