Putin to his Chinese colleague: Together we stand for the formation of a just, democratic and multipolar world

Russian President Vladimir Putin today, Thursday, met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which began today in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the President of Russia condemned the US provocations and the policy they are pursuing toward the Taiwan Strait.

Putin said Russia highly appreciates China’s balanced position on the Ukrainian crisis.

The President of Russia stressed that the consensus between Moscow and Beijing is important in ensuring global and regional stability.

He stated: “We jointly stand for the formation of a just, democratic and multipolar world based on international law and the central role of the UN, and not on some rules that one side has reached and is trying to impose on others without specifying what it is.”

He added that “attempts to create a unipolar world have recently taken an unsightly and completely unacceptable form for the vast majority of countries on this planet.”

For his part, the PRC President, at the beginning of the meeting, said: “In the face of large-scale and unprecedented changes of our time, we are ready, together with our Russian colleagues, to set an example of a responsible world power capable of playing a leading role, achieving rapid changes in the world in order to return it to the path of sustainable and positive development.
