Putin: Russia supports Algeria’s balanced line

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Algeria is Russia’s second largest trading partner in Africa and that Moscow supports its measured line.

The President of Russia, accepting the credentials of a number of new ambassadors in Moscow, including Algerian Ambassador Ismail Benamar, said: “Russia’s interaction with the Republic of Algeria has the character of a strategic partnership… we celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and invited the President of Algeria, Abdelmajid Tebboune, to pay a visit to Russia.

Putin noted that Algeria is Russia’s second largest trading partner in Africa in terms of trade. Noting that trade and economic cooperation is constantly actively developing, as well as in other areas, including military-technical and humanitarian ones.

President Putin stressed that Russia supports Algeria’s balanced line in regional and international affairs. Noting that we will continue to work together to strengthen stability in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in the Sahara and Sahel region.
