Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech arrived in the country’s capital Rabat on Tuesday to join the training camp of the Moroccan national team, which is preparing to travel to Spain to compete in Chile and Paraguay.
The return of Ziyech to the Moroccan national team represents a major milestone, more than a year and a half after his absence due to a dispute with former Moroccan national coach Wahid Halilhodzic and the announcement of his departure from the national team.
He was joined by Ziyech, Bayern Munich right-back Nasir Mazraoui, who also returned to the Moroccan national team after his earlier refusal to play for the Atlas Lions due to disagreements with Halilhodzic.
The possibility of Mazraoui’s participation in confrontations with Chile and Paraguay raises doubts, since he was injured during the last match he played with his team, Bayern Munich, in the German championship.
Morocco will face their Chilean counterpart on September 23rd before facing Paraguay on the 27th of the same month in preparation for the Atlas Lions to compete in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
It should be noted that according to the results of the draw for the final stage of the World Cup in Qatar, the Moroccan team fell into Group D along with Croatia, which took second place at the 2018 World Cup, Belgium, the bronze medalist, and Canada.
