President of the International Olympic Committee: Ukraine’s threat to boycott the 2024 Olympics is contrary to Olympic principles

The President of the International Olympic Committee of Germany, Thomas Bach, considered that Ukraine’s threat to boycott the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris is contrary to Olympic principles.

Earlier, Ukraine threatened to boycott the 2024 Olympics if Russian and Belarusian athletes were allowed to participate.

Bach responded to Ukraine’s threat in a letter he sent to the Ukrainian Olympic Committee, in which he said the latter’s efforts to “pressure” other countries to boycott the 2024 Games are “very unsuccessful” for the “overwhelming majority” of the National Olympic Committee . Federations and committees.

Last month, the International Olympic Committee announced that the issue of the return of Russian athletes to compete in the Paris Olympics should be “further explored…subject to strict conditions” and added: “No athlete should be prevented from competing solely because of their passports.”
