Borussia Dortmund have signed French striker Anthony Modest from local rivals Cologne to make up for the long absence of Ivorian Sebastian Haller after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
The 34-year-old French striker underwent a scheduled medical examination on Monday ahead of signing a one-year contract with the German Bundesliga runner-up last season.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said his team is delighted to sign a “classic striker”, calling Modest “a seasoned pro who knows the German league well and scored 20 goals last season”, given that the Frenchman’s temperament “befits the role that looking for trainer Eden.
German media reports that this deal will cost Dortmund almost 5 million euros.
