Newspaper: Options for responding to the collapse of Russian oil

The Vedomosti newspaper wrote that the Russian authorities are developing 3 possible responses after the introduction by the European Union and the G7 of a ceiling on Russian oil prices.

According to her, “the authorities are studying 3 options for a response mechanism to the introduction by the G7 countries and the EU of a price ceiling on Russian oil imports, and his administration is discussing a draft presidential decree with the government. “

It says, citing two sources, that the first option is to impose a complete ban on the sale of oil to countries that have agreed to these restrictions, even if they did not buy raw materials from Russia directly, but through intermediary countries. One of the exporters confirmed that the delivery would be blocked if the final recipient was a member of the G7.

The newspaper added: “The second option, according to exporters, is to ban exports under contracts that include a price ceiling condition, regardless of the beneficiary country. The third option is to accept a standard price, that is, to establish a maximum discount on Russian Ural oil compared to oil “Brent”, and in case of an increase in the discount, prohibit the sale.

One of the sources said that none of these options have yet been approved, adding that there may be “alternative options or a combination of them.”
