Musk plans to raise fees for paid pages on Twitter

American businessman Elon Musk has decided to raise the monthly subscription fee for Twitter Blue users from $4.99 to $19.99.

The Financial Times, citing informed sources, reported that Musk ordered his employees to work around the clock to verify paid accounts in the Twitter application.

The Verge previously reported that the Twitter account verification feature will become paid, and this feature will be available only to users of paid pages.

Musk confirmed that work is underway to update the verification processes in accounts, and that users whose accounts have previously been verified will have 90 days to complete the subscription, otherwise the blue checkmark will disappear from their pages.

It comes just days after Musk announced the completion of his $44 billion purchase of Twitter, with media reporting that he fired CEO Parag Agrawal as well as other directors of the company.

In turn, the Washington Post, citing documents related to the company, wrote that Musk intends to fire 75% of Twitter employees if the deal is completed, but Musk denied the authenticity of these reports.
