Moscow’s Willingness to Find Sensible Compromises in Resolving the Global Crisis, States Medvedev

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia is ready to discuss reasonable solutions to overcome the current international crisis, provided that its interests are taken into account.

Medvedev said: “We are ready to look for reasonable compromises, as the President of Russia has repeatedly said. It is possible, but with the understanding of a number of fundamental points.

He stressed that Russia’s interests “should be fully taken into account: there should be no more anti-Russians in principle, otherwise sooner or later everything will end very badly.”

The spokesman noted that “all the results of a comprehensive confrontation should be defined in a new document, such as the Helsinki Document, which was the result of the famous 1975 conference”, but stressed that Finland, as a NATO country, could not be the place for such a meeting.

The spokesman warned that “a thorough reconfiguration of the United Nations and other international organizations” would be required.

The same source stressed that “this is possible only if the rights of the permanent members of the Security Council are fully respected, otherwise it will become ineffective.”
