The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Switzerland refused to issue entry visas to Russian diplomats who were supposed to participate in UN events in Geneva.
“To ensure the effective work of the UN team… it is important for the full participation of countries in the negotiation process,” said Russian diplomat Irina Tyaglova during a meeting of the UN Working Group on International Information Security.
And she continued: “We draw attention to the non-fulfillment of obligations to host UN bodies not only by the United States, but also by Switzerland.”
She stressed: “We have specific comments regarding the issuance of entry visas for Russian specialists to participate in the work related to the security of information technology, which is taking place in Geneva under the auspices of the UN.”
She added that Russia rejects a “discriminatory policy” to prevent country representatives from participating in UN-sponsored events “under the pretext of fabrication.”
Earlier, the United States denied an entry visa to Andrei Krutskikh, Director of the International Information Security Service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, who was supposed to head the Russian delegation at a meeting of the UN Working Group on International Information Security.
