Missing a penalty… Lewandowski sends a message

Pole Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona star and Poland captain, has sent a message of apology to his country’s fans following a goalless draw against Mexico in Group 3 first round matches at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Lewandowski did not convert a penalty in the 58th minute of the match, which took place at the 974 Stadium, and this was enough for his team to win.

“We played smart and should have won,” Lewandowski wrote on his official Facebook account after the match. “Sorry.”

He added: “Thank you for all the words of support. We will continue to aim for the next round.”

The Saudi Arabia team leads this group with 3 points after beating Argentina by a score of two: one.

Poland will play Saudi Arabia in the second round match next Saturday at the Education City Stadium, before closing out the group stage against Argentina at the 974 Stadium on Wednesday, the 30th of this month.
