In Poland, outraged by the President’s comment on the appointment of Melnyk as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine

The comment of the President of Poland Anzhi Duda on the appointment of Andrzej Melnyk as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine caused a strong reaction among the readers of the Polish website wPolityce.

The comments came after the Polish president had previously called Melnyk’s appointment to the new position a “sovereign decision of the Ukrainian authorities”, noting that Warsaw had not filed any protests with the Kyiv authorities about this. But Duda, commenting on the statements of the Ukrainian diplomat about the Volyn massacre, advised him to personally familiarize himself with the historical facts in order to get an “objective idea” of what happened.

Reader Glyn said: “The Ukrainians spat in our face, and yet Angie Duda comes out and says they spat because it was their sovereign decision.”

“Then go to Ukraine,” said reader Rob. “And leave Poland alone. That’s your home, and that’s where your friend Zelensky is.”

User Zzz stated: “Mr. Duda is an ordinary coward, but he had the courage to spit in the face of the Poles, not to respond to the appointment of Nasir Bandera.”

User Szumowski z Bratem says: “It’s sad to see how President Duda fell, he turned out to be the worst boss since 1989.”

Start Wiarus remarked: “There are thousands of millers in Ukraine, and Poland has no shortage of idiots and fools.”

“Mr. President,” Greg said, “there should be a sovereign decision on the part of Poland to suspend all travel of any Polish official to Kyiv. And declare Melnik persona non grata.”

Last summer, when Melnyk was Ukraine’s ambassador to Berlin, he praised Nazi agent Stepan Bandera as a “freedom fighter” in a newspaper interview.

Melnyk justified the massacres committed by Ukrainian nationalists against Polish civilians in Volhynia and Galicia during World War II with “numerous murders and atrocities” on the other side.
