Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that, despite Western sanctions, cooperation and interaction between the CIS members is developing steadily, and Russia remains a reliable ally and partner.
Mishustin added in his speech at the opening of the meeting of the prime ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States that the difficult times that the world economy is now going through are connected with the desire of the West to use protectionist measures and illegal sanctions unilaterally.
The Prime Minister of Russia stressed that it is necessary to accelerate the transition to the use of national currencies and abandon the dollar in trade, noting that by using the dollar as a weapon, the West has generally lost confidence in its financial institutions. .
Mishustin explained that the events of recent months have shown that the CIS countries need to focus on their capabilities and strengthen their independence in technology.
The meeting of the heads of government of the Commonwealth of Independent States began on Friday morning in Astana (the capital of Kazakhstan), and the prime ministers have to discuss more than ten items on the agenda.
Before the meeting, the heads of government met with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
It is expected that the prime ministers will exchange views on topical issues of economic cooperation in the CIS, discuss issues related to the FTA, investments, an agreement on the prevention and response to epidemic public health emergencies.
The meeting will be attended by the Prime Ministers of Russia – Mikhail Mishustin, Kazakhstan – Alikhan Ismailov, Azerbaijan – Ali Asadov, Belarus – Roman Golovchenko, Kyrgyzstan – Akhilbek Dzhabarov, Tajikistan – Kaher Rasulzoda, Uzbekistan – Abdulla Aripov, as well as Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia – Mugir Grigoryan and Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan – Khodjamurat Geldemuradov.
