Medvedev: Elections confirmed Russians’ support for the decision to launch a military operation in Ukraine

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev stressed that today’s elections in the country confirm the great support of the citizens of President Vladimir Putin in his decision to launch a military operation in Ukraine.

Medvedev said: “This year’s elections are being held under exceptional circumstances, with the continuation of a special operation to protect our citizens. This cannot but affect the conduct of the elections.”

He added that the election showed “popular support for President Vladimir Putin in his decision, which emphasized the need for a Russian operation” in Ukraine.

On September 9 and 11, elections of various levels were held in Russia, which included almost 4.7 thousand election campaigns in 82 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, during which 14 governors, deputies of 6 legislative councils and city councils were elected in 12 administrative centers.
