Media: possible infection of a child with monkeypox in Canada

Canadian media reported that health authorities in Montreal, Quebec are closely monitoring the case of a child with suspected monkeypox.

The Canadian Press indicated that it was a child aged 4 years or younger, without disclosing any details.

Notably, the first cases of monkeypox virus infection in Canada were detected in Montreal in mid-May.

At the time, health authorities indicated that the majority of infected people were gay and that there was no risk of widespread spread of the disease.

To date, 1228 cases of monkeypox have been reported in 9 different provinces in Canada, with no deaths.
