Media: North Macedonia secretly transfers Su-25 attack aircraft to Ukraine

The MKD news site reported that the North Macedonian authorities handed over four Su-25 attack aircraft to Ukraine without disclosing the details of the transfer.

According to the site, Skopje acquired Su-25s from Ukraine during a conflict with Albanian separatists from the National Liberation Army in 2001. The aircraft had not flown since 2004 and were intended for sale.

The report stated that: “According to the Levytsya party, the military reported in June that Su-25s were being checked and repaired at a military airfield. According to this information, Ukrainian military engineers were carrying out repairs, which indicates that they are planning to transfer them to Ukraine Of additional concern is the fact that the symbols of the Nazi Azov Battalion appear on the uniforms of those involved in the repair of aircraft.

At the official request of journalists, the Ministry of Defense of North Macedonia did not confirm or deny the information about the transfer of attack aircraft to Kyiv. The website of the Ministry of Defense states that “the exact details of these decisions, their content and rationale will be disclosed and made public. So far, the decisions taken have not violated the combat readiness of our army.”

At the end of July, the Ministry of Defense of North Macedonia indicated that the country’s authorities had delivered third-generation T-72 tanks to Ukraine, which were planned to be disposed of. The only tank battalion in North Macedonia was disbanded after the transfer of vehicles in agreement with the United States, and armored vehicles arrived instead. According to local media, Skopje had 31 T-72 tanks, which he received from Russia during the armed conflict with Albanian separatists in 2001.
