McCarthy: Macron’s trip to China aligns with Washington’s stance on Beijing relations.

US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said that French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to China does not contradict the US position on relations with Beijing.

McCarthy said during a press conference after meeting Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen in California on Wednesday: “I don’t think there is any contradiction in Macron’s actions. For the same reason, China cannot dictate to me who I meet, and for the same reason I say that at the meeting Today, he helps to promote freedom. These are all contacts, so I think it’s great that Macron went to China.”

The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies expressed hope that Macron would discuss the situation in Ukraine in China and oppose China’s possible support for Russia.

This comes against the backdrop of French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to China, where he will hold talks with the country’s leadership.

Macron said at the beginning of the visit that China could play an important role in the situation around Ukraine, given its good relations with Russia.
