Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraei blamed Beirut for launching Hamas rockets from Lebanon towards Israel, which he described as dangerous.
Adrai said that this was a “multilateral” event, but that Hamas from Lebanon was the culprit and the launcher of the rockets, pointing out that “the possibility of Iran’s involvement in this incident is also being explored.”
He added: “The Defense Army is on high alert… The rate of missile interception today indicates this readiness, and there are currently no exceptional indications for the rear, either in the north or in the south.”
The army statement continued: “Last night, Hamas launched surface-to-air missiles, causing warnings to be activated in the area around the Gaza Strip.
At this hour, the Israeli Defense Minister is holding a meeting to assess the situation.
