Lavrov: We are negotiating free trade between the Eurasian Union and Egypt, and we will launch them with the UAE

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that talks on trade on preferential terms are planned between the Eurasian Economic Union and countries, including the UAE.

And the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said today, on Wednesday, at an international inter-party conference organized by the United Russia party, that negotiations on preferential trade between the Eurasian Union (Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan), India, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates are planned. .

The Russian Foreign Minister indicated that a free trade agreement between the Union with Vietnam and Singapore is already in place, and indicated that negotiations are underway with Egypt and Iran to conclude a free trade agreement.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also expressed confidence that the EU countries will soon switch to calculating the exchange of goods between member states in new currencies, and not in US dollars.

Last week, the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union at a meeting in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek signed 15 documents, including a document on “the start of negotiations with the UAE on a free trade agreement.”

The Eurasian Economic Union was created in early 2015 on the basis of the then-existing Customs Union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, and Armenia and Kyrgyzstan joined later that year.

Union agreements guarantee to all its members the freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and labor, as well as the implementation of a coordinated policy in the areas of trade, energy, industry, agriculture and transport.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the Eurasian Union is one of the leading regional entities with 190 million consumers.
