Lavrov: Russia is ready to strengthen relations with OIC countries

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow does not accept Western attempts to isolate countries that are defending their sovereignty.

The Minister stressed that the Russian side is ready to further strengthen relations with the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Addressing the organizers and participants of the First World Youth Summit in Kazan, Lavrov added: “Relations between Russia and the Organization of the Islamic Conference, as well as its member states, are on the rise and developing. We are ready to increase cooperation with them on the basis of equality, mutual benefit, respect for cultural and civilizational identity and the right to independently determine the path of development. We do not accept the widespread imposition by the West of its false values ​​and attempts to isolate countries that are defending their sovereignty and block alliances against them.” .

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the choice of a Russian city to host a forum on youth policy in Islamic countries testifies to the multifaceted nature of Russia’s relations with the OIC member states and the broad international public support for this cooperation.
