Lavrov: If we return to joint work with the West, then this will be done at new bases

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov criticized the West for turning the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe into a hostile arena for media warfare, stressing that Poland contributed to the reduction of the results of the organization’s work to zero.

“I’ll be frank, things are not going well in the OSCE,” Lavrov said. “The organization was created as a platform for dialogue and cooperation on an equal footing, but over the past few years a deep crisis has set in.”

Lavrov pointed out that “The West regards the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe as a tool to advance its collective interests, and it has become a propaganda battleground.”

Lavrov added: “Poland headed the organization in 2022, and by their public anti-Russian position, in our opinion, the Poles succeeded in only one thing, they reduced the effectiveness of the OSCE to zero.”

“One of the lessons is that if we return to working together (with the West), then this will have to be done on a new basis, because the old methods no longer work,” Lavrov said.

Earlier, Poland, which currently holds the post of current chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, denied Lavrov’s participation in the meeting of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers in Lodz on December 1-2.

Lavrov, commenting on the development of the situation in the organization, said that the West is deliberately digging dividing lines, trying to bury the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
