Lapid asks to prepare "Action Pack" Against Moscow in the event of the closure of the Jewish Migration Agency in Russia

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid instructed Foreign Ministry officials to prepare a “package of measures” in case Russia decides to close the Jewish agency Sakhnot.

According to Israel’s 13th TV channel, Lapid’s order came at a meeting with three Foreign Ministry officials, during which the situation around the Jewish Agency in Russia was discussed.

The TV channel reported that the ministerial delegation, which was supposed to leave for Moscow on July 24, is still in Israel, since it is not possible to agree on all the details of the visit with the Russian side. According to other sources, members of the Israeli delegation cannot obtain entry visas to Russia.

The channel said that the visit of the Israeli delegation to Russia has been postponed indefinitely.

Earlier today, Lapid said at a meeting with representatives of various ministries and departments that the closure of Sakhnot in Russia would have a negative impact on relations between the countries.

The Ministry of Justice of Russia sent a petition to the court to terminate the activities of the Jewish Agency, which specializes in attracting Jewish immigrants to Israel. On July 21, Israel decided to send a delegation to Moscow for negotiations, which should include representatives of the Prime Minister’s Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Immigration and Integration.
