The Rising Star of Barcelona, Lamin Yamal, Joins the Spanish National Football Team

The Spanish national football team has officially secured the services of young talent Lamin Yamal, the rising star of Barcelona.

Call-up to La Roja Camp

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has announced that 16-year-old Lamin Yamal will be called up to the La Roja camp this month.

Choosing Spain over Morocco

The official call of Lamin Yamal to the Spanish camp this September means that Morocco’s chances of getting his services are over.

According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, Yamal chose to represent Spain because of his trust in the Spanish Football Association, as well as because he had previously represented various young Sunni Laforea Roja groups.

Efforts to Convince Yamal

Yamal’s choice to represent Spain comes despite attempts by Fawzi Lakjaa, President of the Moroccan Football Federation and Atlas Lions coach Walid Rekraghi to convince the young player and his family to represent Morocco at the expense of Laforea Roja.

Youthful Achievements

Lamine Yamal became the youngest player in Barcelona history to start for Barcelona and the youngest player in Spanish league history this century.

In addition, Yamal became the youngest player of the current century to score a goal in the Spanish Championship.

Euro 2024 Qualifying Matches

The Spanish national team will play two matches of the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament this September: they will meet with Georgia on September 8, and then with Cyprus on the 12th of the same month.

Spain are fourth in Group A with 3 points, one point behind third place Norway and runner-up Georgia, while Scotland are first with 12 points.
