Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Undergo Pacemaker Implantation Procedure
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is due to undergo a pacemaker implantation procedure at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Assigning Duties to Justice Minister Yariv Rivlin
Israeli government sources have revealed that Israeli Justice Minister Yariv Rivlin has been assigned to act as Netanyahu’s duties during the operation.
Procedure at Sheba Hospital
A spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office has confirmed that Netanyahu will undergo a pacemaker implantation procedure at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer tonight.
Discovery of Heart Problem
Netanyahu confirmed in a video recording that the Holter device, which was implanted under his skin for monitoring while he was hospitalized over the weekend due to apparent dehydration, alerted him to a heart problem that evening. It was then decided to proceed with surgery to immediately implant a pacemaker.
Listening to Doctors
“I feel very comfortable, but I have to listen to my doctors,” Netanyahu said regarding the decision to undergo the procedure.
Procedure Under Local Anesthesia
The pacemaker implantation surgery will be performed under local anesthesia.
Expected Release from Hospital
Netanyahu confirmed that he would be released from the hospital on Sunday afternoon. He expressed his intention to come to the Knesset to vote on the second and third readings of the amendment to the law, repealing the “reasonableness argument.”
Hope for an Agreement
Netanyahu added, “Until the last minutes, I am talking with my colleagues and I hope that an agreement will be reached.”
