Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahyan emphasized the importance of his country’s economic cooperation with neighboring and Islamic countries as one of the priorities of Iran’s economic diplomacy.
Abdullahian congratulated him in a speech delivered at the G8 Islamic Developing Countries conference.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the “D8” group, he also noted the active role taken by the Islamic Republic in the beginning of the founding of this group.
Referring to the ongoing international crises, including the Corona Prize, the energy crisis and the food insecurity crisis, he affirmed the Islamic Republic’s “willingness to share its energy and experience in dealing with crises with Member States.”
He praised Iran’s initiatives to address international issues, including the “gas for the recovery of the world economy in the post-coronavirus era” initiative launched by Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi during a meeting of leaders of oil and gas exporting countries.
In his speech, he also stressed “the need to support the private sector in D8 member states”.
He proposed “the creation of a parliamentary union, including eight developing Islamic countries, with the aim of uniting joint parliamentary efforts that will contribute to the development of economic cooperation between these countries.”
