Herrlich unveils why he turned down Zamalek coaching offer

German Heiko Herrlich, a former coach of Bayer Leverkusen, revealed the reason for the failure to fulfill the contract with the Egyptian Zamalek to train the team.

Heiko Herrlich arrived in Cairo last Tuesday before returning and leaving Cairo on Wednesday night without reaching an agreement with the Egyptian club to take over as manager.

“I wanted to listen to everything and see it in action, but there is a lot of turmoil in and around this club, so I turned down an offer that was really great,” Herrlich said in a statement to German newspaper Bild. .

He added: “I met the sporting director (Amir Mortada Mansour) at the hotel and we watched the Zamalek match together on Tuesday evening, but after that I didn’t hear anything from the club all day, so I thought it was all pointless. if there was no person who could contact me or call him.

He added, “I would love to have that kind of experience abroad, but I’m not the kind of person who can handle current problems in Zamalek.”
