Former mixed martial arts fighter Jeff Monson, who received Russian citizenship, announced his intention to renounce American citizenship.

And the Russian sports channel Match TV quoted Monson, speaking of his native USA: “I have three children there, and this speaks for itself. Besides, my team is there, I have known these people for twenty years. I am currently in the process of renouncing my US citizenship, after which I will only have a Russian passport.”

Former mixed martial artist and jiu-jitsu world champion Jeff Monson first visited Russia in 2011 to fight Russian fighter Fedor Emelianenko, in which the latter won.

In 2018, the 52-year-old American fighter received Russian citizenship and became a deputy of the Krasnogorsk City Council of the Moscow Region.

In an exclusive interview with RT in late May 2018, Monson expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin for granting him Russian citizenship.

Jeff Monson, nicknamed “The Snowman”, insisted on entering the arena to the rhythm of the national anthem of the former Soviet Union, and on his body was a hammer and sickle tattoo and an image of the famous revolutionary Che Guevara, in addition to the Palestinian flag and other tattoos.
