Turkish company GETAS Group to invest $60 million in solar power plant in Bahrain
Today, Monday, the management of the Turkish company GETAS Group announced that it is investing in a $60 million solar power plant in Bahrain.
Capacity and Expansion Plans
Company chairman Aykut Erdogan said the solar plant in Bahrain will have a capacity of 72 MW, adding, “But that capacity could be increased to 200 MW in the next phase.”
He added: “The solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of car parks at the University of Bahrain campus and the Dana Exhibition Centre, on the campus of the University of Bahrain and on the rooftops of other exhibitions.”
Import and Local Involvement
The chairman of the board noted that his company will import solar panels from a Taiwanese company that is a partner of the Turkish company GETAS Group.
He noted that Turkish engineers will oversee the implementation of the entire project, and local labor will also be involved in Bahrain.
Timeline and Completion
Erdogan added that the implementation of the project will start in November next year and that the project will be ready within a maximum of 18 months.
