Germany conducts one of the largest special operations against right-wing extremists

German media report that the police launched one of the largest special operations in the country against right-wing extremists who were planning an attack on the Bundestag.

Spiegel, citing his sources, said that German special forces operate simultaneously in 11 of Germany’s 16 federal states, adding that 25 men and women who were either members of a terrorist organization or supported it were arrested by order of the country’s prosecutor’s office.

She added that more than 130 homes, offices and other buildings are currently being inspected.

She pointed out that the detainees planned to overthrow the federal government and kidnap Health Minister Lauterbach. It was also expected that part of the security forces would show solidarity with the terrorists.

She stated that the group adheres to an ideology that denies the current constitution and believes that the Second Reich still exists, based on the 1871 constitution.

For its part, the German prosecutor’s office announced the presence of a Russian citizen among the detainees.

She added that the detainees are suspected of participating in or supporting a “terrorist group” and planning to overthrow the German government.

He also confirmed that there was no reason to believe that Russian officials were supporting the detainees.
