French Midfielder Paul Pogba Suspended After Failing Doping Test: Juventus Player Faces Potential Ban

Paul Pogba Suspended for Doping: Italy’s Anti-Doping Court Takes Action

Introduction

On Monday, Italy’s National Anti-Doping Court decided to provisionally suspend Frenchman Paul Pogba, a midfielder for the Italian soccer team Juventus, after he failed a doping test.

Test Results and Confirmation

Paul Pogba tested positive and was confirmed to have taken the banned hormone testosterone in a random steroid test following the Italian Football League match between Juventus and Udinese on August 20, during which he was content to sit on the bench.

Juventus’ Response

Juventus said the club will now examine next procedural steps after Italy’s anti-doping authority issued a statement confirming Pogba’s ban on Monday.

The Italian club said in a statement: “Juventus Football Club announces that the footballer Paul Labelle Pogba has received today, 11 September 2023, a warning order of suspension from the National Anti-Doping Tribunal following tests carried out on 20 August 2023.”

Possible Consequences

According to British news agency PA Media, if Pogba is found guilty of doping, he could be banned for between two and four years.

Reactions and Speculations

Some ridiculed Pogba and his “disastrous” second spell with Juventus, believing that the only positive thing for him in Italy was a doping test!
