First case of monkeypox reported in Guatemala

The Ministry of Health of Guatemala has reported the first case of monkeypox in a local resident.

In a statement, the ministry said: “The National Health Laboratory announced the confirmation of the first case of monkeypox in the country.”

According to the ministry, the virus was found in a 31-year-old citizen of Guatemala City.

And the World Health Organization has previously urged the currently worst-hit group of homosexual men to limit their sexual partners because of the rise in monkeypox cases around the world.

Statistics show that 98% of injuries are caused by gay men.
