Russian Daria Kasatkina advanced to the second round of the San Jose Tennis Championships with a total prize pool of $757,900 at the expense of American landowner Taylor Townsend.
No. 7 seed Kasatkina beat Taylor Townsend 6-4, 6-0 in straight sets in a matchup between the two on Wednesday night.
And she arranged a date for the 25-year-old Kasatkina in the quarterfinals of the tournament with her Belarusian neighbor Arina Sobolenko.
