Feed crisis in Egypt escalates… and the need for urgent intervention

Despite the global decline in fodder prices, Egypt is still experiencing a frenzy of growth. House Representative and Future of the Nation party secretary Muhammad Abdullah Zain El-Din has filed an urgent request with the government. .

He explained that despite global feed prices falling by about 50%, there is still a marked increase in Egypt, which has led to significant price increases for meat, poultry and eggs, he said.

“The government is making efforts in this regard, but they are not enough, especially in relation to the volumes emitted from ports, which requires an early intervention to end the crisis,” Zain El-Din added.

The deputy stressed that the liberalization of the exchange rate had an impact on the rise in prices for feed, especially since they rely on imports from abroad, which led to an increase in the burden on importers, and hence to an increase in prices for consumers.

Muhammad Zain al-Din urged the government to take urgent action to further release feed consignments in ports to meet the needs of livestock farmers, which will lead to lower prices.

In conclusion, the member of the House of Representatives emphasized that the government, through all stakeholders and agencies, needs to develop a clear strategy for expanding strategic crops in order to achieve self-sufficiency and reduce interest in foreign imports.
