Ex-employee jailed for spying for Saudi Arabia "Twitter" In the United States

Prosecutors announced on Wednesday that the former Twitter manager convicted of spying for Saudi Arabia has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison in the United States.

In August, a jury found Ahmed Abuammo guilty after a trial in federal court in San Francisco. He faces 10 years in prison on one count and 20 years on each of several other counts.

Prosecutors said that since 2014, Abuammo has taken bribes from Saudi officials. On Twitter, he helped track relationships with journalists and public figures in the Middle East and North Africa.

He was convicted of leaking sensitive information from the company’s systems to help Saudi authorities identify and locate Twitter users of interest.
