EU urges de-escalation and denounces violence in Kosovo

The European Union condemned the violence in Kosovo, which declared a unilateral separation from Serbia, and called for an end to the escalation.

European Union High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Josep Borrell tweeted on Monday that “the European Union strongly condemns the shocking violence that took place today in Zvecany.”

“Acts of violence committed against KFOR personnel, the media, civilians and the police are absolutely unacceptable,” he added.

Borrell called on the Kosovo authorities and the protesters to “immediately stop the escalation” and expressed hope that a political solution would be found through dialogue.
