Erdogan: Turkey is working with Azerbaijan to ensure energy security in Europe

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country has started working with Azerbaijan to increase the capacity of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) in order to ensure energy security in Europe.

The Turkish President added in a TV interview: “We are going through a process in which we are taking important steps in the field of energy. We have carried out preparatory work, and the gas storage facilities in our country are 100% full. In cooperation with Azerbaijan, we have begun work to increase the capacity of TANAP to 32 billion cubic meters to ensure the security of energy supplies to Europe.

Earlier, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Fatih Donmez, said that a decision had been made to double the capacity of the TANAP bypass line from 16 to 32 billion cubic meters per year.

It is noteworthy that after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the West increased sanctions pressure on Russia, which led to an increase in prices for electricity, fuel and food in Europe and the United States.
