Erdogan: Greece defied NATO by tracking Turkish planes

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes Greece defied NATO when it recently tracked Turkish fighter jets with the S-300 missile system.

Erdogan said: “Greece has challenged NATO and its allies by stepping up its hostile behavior, which began by harassing our aircraft and raising the level of engagement to use the S-300 system.”

He pointed out that Greece is not an ally of Turkey in the political, economic or military fields.

On August 28, Ankara accused Greece of hunting Turkish aircraft with S-300 missiles.

In turn, the Greek Ministry of Defense denied Turkish statements that Athens used the S-300 air defense system against Turkish F-16 fighters while performing a reconnaissance mission over the Aegean Sea.
