Poland proposes to change the mechanism for setting energy prices in Europe

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki proposed changing the mechanism for setting energy prices in Europe in order to reduce them and refuse Russian gas.

“I have spoken to the prime ministers of Denmark, Finland and Estonia,” Morawiecki said at the conclusion of the meeting of the Baltic Sea heads of government in Copenhagen on Tuesday. “It will not depend on Russian gas.”

“Changing the pricing mechanism for energy carriers in the European Union, including electricity, is the first condition for lowering prices. I am sure that in the near future we will complete work on new mechanisms that will reduce energy prices in Poland,” he added.

He pointed out that the upcoming EU summit will be decisive in this regard.
