Egypt releases the captain of the Soy and his chief Russian assistant

The Union of Russian Seafarers announced the release of the captain of the ship “Soi” and his chief assistant in Egypt, as they will return to Russia in the coming days.

“Captain Soya and his chief mate released. In the coming days, they will be able to return to Russia,” the union said.

The ship “Soy” and its crew of 5 Russians and 3 citizens of Bulgaria were captured in Egypt on November 4th. Egyptian customs officers found tramadol, a banned substance in the country, in containers aboard the ship.

Earlier, three Russian sailors returned to Moscow by plane.
